Prediction market court calendar: every dated deadline ahead, and what each one decides

Dated deadlines ahead
Dates marked approximate are computed from a filing date and a rule, for example fourteen days for objections to a magistrate's recommendation or thirty days for a comment period, and can shift with weekends, holidays or an extension. Fixed dates come from a court order, a statute or a published schedule.
| Date | Where | What | What it decides | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| October 16, 2026 | Ohio | Deadline for Polymarket, Robinhood, Coinbase, Novig, Underdog, ProphetX, Webull, Plus500, Gemini Titan and Moomoo to stop offering sports event contracts to people in Ohio under the Casino Control Commission letters of October 2. More | First mass compliance test after the Sixth Circuit ruling; written confirmation of compliance due within 14 days of the letters. | Covers |
| October 18, 2026 approx. | Missouri | Thirty-day compliance window closes on Attorney General Hanaway's September 18 cease-and-desist letters to Polymarket, Kalshi, Crypto.com, Novig, Underdog and Robinhood. More | The letters warned that non-compliance "will result in enforcement action"; a suit or settlement would move Missouri to tier 1 of the Enforcement Index. | KCTV5 |
| October 28, 2026 approx. | Kentucky | Objections due, 14 days after Magistrate Judge Atkins's October 14 recommendation that the Commonwealth's suits against Polymarket and Kalshi be remanded to Franklin Circuit Court. More | If the district judge adopts the recommendation, Kentucky's injunction requests return to state court under Sixth Circuit precedent that favours the state. | Gaming.net |
| November 3, 2026 | Nebraska | General election: Initiatives 440 and 441 on legalising online sports betting, with about $14.65 million raised for the campaign, almost all from sportsbooks. More | A yes vote creates a licensed mobile market in a state where Kalshi already trades; a no vote leaves the exchange as the only online sports product. | BetG8 |
| November 9, 2026 | Supreme Court | Kalshi's brief in opposition due in Flaherty v. KalshiEX, No. 26-299, New Jersey's petition for certiorari, after the extension granted September 22. More | Next step after 39 states, the NFL, the AGA, 145 tribes and Gary Gensler filed in support; the Court would then distribute the case for conference, possibly with a call for the Solicitor General's views. | Supreme Court docket |
| November 9, 2026 approx. | CFTC | Thirty-day comment periods close on the interim final rule excluding casino and sportsbook bets from the swap definition and the proposed rule adding event contracts, both published October 9; the exact date runs from Federal Register publication. More | Comments from the states, the leagues and the exchanges will set the record the CFTC must answer, and will be cited in the pending appeals. | CFTC Release 9309-26 |
| December 31, 2026 | Cboe / Robinhood | Fee waiver on Cboe's binary KPI options, approved by the SEC October 13 and to be distributed first by Robinhood, is scheduled to end; trading start still depends on Cboe Clear U.S. registration. More | The first day the real cost of the SEC-side product is published. | Markets Media |
| January 1, 2027 | North Carolina | SB 257 tax of 6 percent on prediction-market operators' net trading fees takes effect; the statute recognises exclusive federal CFTC authority and requires no state licence. More | The first state tax on prediction-market revenue; a template other states can copy without litigating preemption. | BetG8 |
| January 1, 2027 | Kentucky | 14.25 percent excise tax on prediction-market contracts, enacted alongside the Attorney General's suits, scheduled to take effect. More | Kentucky is suing to stop the contracts and taxing them at the same time; the tax takes effect whatever the courts do. | BetG8 |
Pending with no date
Appeals courts do not announce decision dates. Each of these can be decided on any weekday, and several would move a state between tiers of the Enforcement Index the day they land. We list them so that a ruling, when it comes, is not a surprise about which court it came from.

|---|---|
| Sixth Circuit | Kalshi's October 9 petition for panel rehearing or rehearing en banc of the September 25 decision for Ohio and Tennessee. More |

| Ninth Circuit | Remand in Blue Lake Rancheria v. Kalshi for a new preliminary-injunction ruling after the September 16 tribal-land decision. More |
| Fourth Circuit | Decision in Maryland's appeal, argued May 7, 2026; Maryland has agreed not to enforce until it rules. More |

How to use this page
Import the ICS file once and your calendar will carry every dated item with a link back to the BetG8 explainer. We update the file when a date moves or a new one is set, and we note changes in the change log, so re-importing after a major ruling is the safest habit. If you only want the dates for one state, the CSV filters by jurisdiction. The Saturday brief lists the coming week's dates at the top; the signup is on the home page.
What is not on it
Scheduled Kalshi and Polymarket market expirations, earnings dates and product launches are not here unless a regulator set the date; this is a calendar of decisions about the markets, not of the markets. Dates we could not source to a filing, an order or an official notice are left out rather than guessed. State legislative sessions are added only once a bill is scheduled for a committee vote or a floor reading. Nothing here is legal advice, and a deadline on this page is not a deadline for you unless you are a party to the case.
Frequently asked questions
When is Kalshi's Supreme Court response due?
November 9, 2026. New Jersey filed its petition for certiorari in Flaherty v. KalshiEX, No. 26-299, on September 2; the Court granted Kalshi an extension on September 22. After the response the case is distributed for a conference, and the Court may first ask the Solicitor General for the government's view.
What happens on October 16, 2026 in Ohio?
It is the deadline the Ohio Casino Control Commission set on October 2 for Polymarket, Robinhood, Coinbase, Novig, Underdog, ProphetX, Webull, Plus500, Gemini Titan and Moomoo to stop offering sports event contracts to people in Ohio, with written confirmation due within 14 days of the letters. Kalshi is not on the list because Ohio is already litigating against it.
How do I add these dates to my calendar?
Download the ICS file linked on this page and open it in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Approximate dates are marked in the event title. We update the file when a date moves, so re-import after a major ruling.
Which rulings have no date?
Appeals have no deadline for decision. The Sixth Circuit rehearing petition, the Ninth Circuit en banc petition, the Fourth Circuit Maryland appeal, the Tenth Circuit Utah appeal and the Second Circuit Connecticut and New York appeals can be decided any day; they are listed in the pending table and move to the dated table when a court sets a date.
