About BetG8

Last updated August 10, 2026 · 18+

BetG8 is an independent publication covering prediction markets, sports betting and the fast-moving law around both. We started with a simple frustration: the two questions that matter most to a normal person — "is this legal where I live?" and "what is this bet actually costing me?" — were the hardest to get a straight answer to. Sportsbooks bury the vig in the odds; prediction-market coverage is written for traders; and the legal picture changes state by state, week by week. We exist to answer those two questions clearly, with sources, and to keep the answers current.

What we cover

Three beats. Prediction markets — how Kalshi and Polymarket work, what they cost, and the state-by-state legal fight that decides whether you can even use them. Sports — the math behind futures, parlays and moving lines, without the tout-sheet hype. The betting industry — the regulation, litigation and business decisions that shape what's available to you. We also build free tools, like our odds converter and parlay calculator, so you can check a number yourself instead of taking anyone's word for it.

Our stance

We publish analysis, not tips. You will not find a "lock of the day" here, and we don't tell anyone to place a bet. Our job is to explain how a market is priced, what the law says, and where the value or the risk actually sits — then let you decide. Every legality page cites primary sources (court orders, regulator statements) and every page carries a responsible-gambling note for a reason: this is money, and sometimes it's the law, so we treat both seriously.

Independence and how we make money

BetG8 is reader-focused and editorially independent. We make money through affiliate and referral links to some of the platforms we mention. Those relationships never decide what we cover or what we conclude — our legality analysis has told readers a platform is barred in their state on the same page a referral link appears, and it always will. We spell out exactly how this works, and which links are paid, on our affiliate disclosure page. How we source and correct our work is documented in our editorial standards.

Who writes BetG8

BetG8 is produced by a small editorial team publishing under the BetG8 Editorial byline. We're expanding our masthead with named contributors who have direct experience in betting law and market structure; as those people come on, their bylines and credentials will appear here and on the pieces they write. If you're a gaming-law attorney, a former trader or an industry reporter and want to contribute or review our legal coverage, we'd like to hear from you.
