UMA oracle

The decentralised dispute system Polymarket uses to confirm how a market resolved.

BetG8 Editorial · Reviewed November 6, 2026 · Not betting, legal or investment advice

On Polymarket a proposer posts the outcome with a bond. If nobody disputes it within a challenge window the market resolves. If someone disputes it, UMA token holders vote, and the losing side forfeits its bond. The design aims to make honest resolution cheaper than lying.

Most markets resolve without dispute. The controversial cases, where the rules were ambiguous or the real world was messy, are the ones that reach a vote and make headlines.

Kalshi and Polymarket US do not use UMA; as regulated exchanges they resolve markets themselves under rules filed with the CFTC.
