Take profit and stop loss
Standing orders that close a position automatically at a target price or at a maximum acceptable loss.
A stop loss sells a position once it falls to a set price, capping the downside; a take profit closes it at a target. On perpetual futures these are essential because leverage turns a normal move into a liquidation. On prediction markets they are useful for managing a position that has moved sharply.
Stops can be run through in illiquid markets, filling far below the trigger. Thin prediction markets and off-hours crypto are where this happens most.
